It ruins the bees ability to learn and therefore impairs their ability to find food and their way home. According to the Natural Resource Defense Council, about 30 percent of the worlds food crops are pollinated by bees and account for about $15 billion of agriculture in the United States alone. The students first learned of the proposed insecticide use from garden volunteer Nancy Stone. Stone runs the after school gardening and cooking group with science teacher Michael Bixby and his wife, Maria Peyer. About 20 students stay after school a couple of days during the week to garden and prepare meals with healthy ingredients. They were kind of using their persuasive writing lessons from English class as well as their science, biology knowledge and research they did on bees in particular, volunteer Maria Peyer said. It was a real full circle and a rich opportunity for them to have a voice about something they cared very strongly about and impacted them directly and what they were doing in the garden. They took this and ran with this, Bixby said. The adults kind of helped out a little bit and steered them in the right direction and clarified a couple things, but its something they took ownership of. After writing letters, Bixby scanned and sent them to council members. Members Mike Wallin and Steve Moon responded with follow up questions.

The article may be about any social science topic you choose. Check with me if you have any doubts about your topic. Research in sociology, political science, psychology, education, or social work are fine. But remember you need research articles; not all articles in any field are research articles. Most research reports begin with sections on theory and reviews of others' research, so skim the whole article or read the abstract, if there is one, to determine whether the author reports actual research he or she has done. Sociology, as is true of all scientific fields, is becoming increasingly complex in its statistical analyses. I therefore strongly suggest that you use articles no more recent than the 1970's. A working rule is: if you can't understand the statistical analyses presented in the results section, don't choose the article. All articles must receive my OK. No two students may review the same article. It is OK to use articles you have to read for another class, if they meet all of the above criteria, but you may not use the articles in Golden.

Recently, as a growing number of fleets such as trucks, buses, taxis, rental cars, patrol cars, and maintenance cars are getting connected for their own purposes, an innovative approach to identifying slippery spots on the road through processing in vehicle sensors is attracting interest worldwide. In this study, a wheel slip based approach to detect road slipperiness is explored. On slippery surfaces, vehicular wheels are prone to skid, which makes wheel rotational and vehicle transitional speeds prominently different from each other. This phenomenon can be discerned by wheel speed and GPS sensors that are available in cars carrying commonly available devices: smartphones, digital tachographs, and on board units for diverse ITS projects. Due to the characteristics of tires made of rubber, some discrepancies of the two speeds essentially arise for vehicles to move and stop. Hence, finding optimal thresholds of the differences in both speeds that separate skidding from non skidding under different vehicle dynamic conditions is a principal concern for this study. The approach suggested in this study has advantages in three aspects: 1 it can be implemented without resorting to sophisticated systems, such as antilock braking and/or traction control systems TCS that car manufacturers have normally proprietary rights to; 2 it can be easily applied to any location based services LBS devices enumerated above that include GPS and can obtain wheel speed data from the vehicles controller area network bus; and 3 it can provide reliable and spatially seamless slippery information on a wide area road network when applied to any of the fleets mentioned above, thanks to a systematic analysis on data aggregated from multiple vehicles. Identifying road slipperiness using vehicles as a mobile sensing platform has been one of the hottest research topics for the last two decades. Pilli Sihvola invented a vehicle based road weather data collection system to observe road weather data on Finnish roads . Wang et al. developed a vehicle based tire road friction estimation system that analyzed data from multiple sensors outfitted in a test vehicle .

The flight's been fueled by a network of cottage industries like personal trainers, nutritionists, and elite AAA teams, all seeking to capitalize on these boy prodigies. Players as young as age 13 now have agents. Scouts prowl arenas for prepubescent stars. That means Minnesota's celebrated high school system is no longer the belle of the ball. It's being called archaic and backward, with too few games, too lenient competition to polish our most precious gems. "Minnesota was the last bastion of hockey in its purest form," says Bob Turow, former director of scouting for the United States Hockey League USHL, widely considered the nation's best junior league, with teams from Youngstown to Des Moines.

Soon after his arrest around noon, he was taken to the Government Royapettah General Hospital where he was thoroughly examined by doctors at the request of the investigating officer. A heavy posse of police cordoned off the entire the hospital. Nearly three hours later, he was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital where cardiologists examined him. A senior doctor at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital said Mr. Pachamuthu had been referred to the hospital from the Government Royapettah Hospital for an opinion, with a history of chest pain and an angiogram report. He was not admitted. He was taken to the CCU of the cardiology department where he underwent investigations including an ECG, echo test and a treadmill test. All tests results were found to be normal and he was sent back to Government Royapettah Hospital, she said. Again, Mr. Pachamuthu was taken back to the Government Royapettah Hospital to undergo further examination.
